Bulgaria, officially the Republic of Bulgaria is located in Southeastern Europe with the size of 110,994 sqkm. The predominantly urban population of the country is 7.36 million people. All of the strongest sectors of the economy rely on local natural resources. These sectors are heavy industry, power engineering and agriculture.

The capital city of Bulgaria is Sofia, where most the commercial and cultural activities are concentrated. The country has transformed into an industrial economy with scientific and technological research as its priorities in the 1980’s.

Today Bulgaria is a unitary parliamentary republic with administrative and economic centralization. The currency is Lev (BGN) which is divided into 100 stotinki.

Some inventions that were made by Bulgarians are prototype of digital electronic watch, prototype of the first electronic calculation machine used for the creating of the modern computer and anti-tuberculosis vaccine.
